Earth Day 2021

Be kind to our planet
🌎

Did you know that we can help reverse climate change through rebuilding of soil organic matter and restoring of degraded soil biodiversity, aka regenerative agriculture?

Kiss the Ground

"If you’ve never heard about the amazing potential of regenerative agriculture and land use practices to naturally sequester a critical mass of CO2 in the soil and forests, you’re not alone. One of the best-kept secrets in the world today is that the solution to global warming and the climate crisis (as well as poverty and deteriorating public health) lies right under our feet, and at the end of our knives and forks."

-Ronnie Cummins, Regeneration International Steering Committee Member

Together we can help

This Earth Day TØY has chosen to support a California nonprofit, Kiss The Ground, established specifically to catalyze a movement out of this emerging scientific discovery: that soil regeneration can be a solution to the climate, water, and food crises. They are on a mission to awaken people to the possibilities of regeneration and inspire participation in this movement through media, communications, education, workshops, immersive programming, and advocacy.

We are donating 5% of our sales today
April 22nd 2021 to Kiss The Ground

We'd like to also encourage you to read about Regenerative Agriculture today to better understand the topic and help spread the word about it, so this time next year many more people, especially farmers, know about it.

Last but not least we wanted to give you a few tips borrowed from Fibershed on how to support our Earth through better fashion choices:

  1. Wear natural fibers.
Natural fibers, like organic cotton, are biodegradable and much better for both the environment and our physical bodies
  2. Avoid plastic fibers.
Synthetic textiles are responsible for a significant portion of microplastic pollution, which is now present in 94% of US drinking water - read our blog post about microplastics here
  3. Choose quality over quantity.
On average, we buy 60% more clothing than we did in the year 2000. Redistribute your clothing budget to prioritize durable, high-quality pieces that provide fair wages to farmers and workers.
  4. Keep clothing in use.
Extending the life of a garment by just 3 months reduces its carbon and water footprints by 5-10%.

Happy Earth Day 🌎
